Roxanne and the Bottle

Drawn when I was sad.

Roxanne in the Wind

Roxanne in the Wind. I think this came out wonderfully!

Roxanne against Wall

Roxanne against Wall

Another picture that's not my favourite, although it's better than the previous one. I was going through a difficult drawing period; kind of like writer's block.

There is a famous adage that goes, "Only the pure of heart can make great soup." I kind of feel the same way about drawing; if my mind can't focus on the work, if I get antsy, impatient, overly distracted, or my mind is just in a different mood, the whole thing just doesn't really work.

That said, this didn't come out terribly or anything, just not my favourite. I liked the idea of this one, however.

Roxanne at Table

Roxanne at Table

Ooooh boy. I think I'm gonna need a new category for this one... "least favourites?" Something like that. But I do like to share the images that don't come out all that well as well as those that do so... here we are!

I guess that's not entirely fair. I actually had given up on this drawing very early on for being unsalvagable (it was still in blue lines at that point). The angle seemed wrong... everything seemed wrong. But with some encouragement I came back to it and finished it off. It's funny, it's the eyes more than anything else that came out wrong. Still, practice, live, and learn.

Roxanne, Sitting Indian Style

Roxanne, Sitting Indian Style

Roxanne, sitting Indian style. I guess this is from my... sitting collection? Seems to be a running trend. That's what you get when you want to try sketching different poses!

I liked this one better before I scanned it; something about the face. Still nice!

Roxanne, head in hair.

I love how this one came out. That expression! Mmmph. Fun position to draw, too.

Roxanne Getting Coffee

Roxanne Getting Coffee

Roxanne getting coffee, done completely freehand, no model, etc.

Not super happy with it, but it was good practice.

Think I spend too much of my life getting coffee?

Just kidding, it's a trick question... no such thing!

Fox on her back in a cave

Fox on her back in a cave

Another unnamed fox? What is this world coming to!?

Anyway, exactly what it says on the tin. Or at least, in the title. Drawn from a very fun reference photo, and honestly was very fun to do.

Enjoy!

Sassy Fox

Sassy Fox

A new fox? What blasphempy is this!?

Not much to add other than that she seems to be a sassy one. I hadn't looked this drawing in a while, but looking at it now, I wanna bring her back and expand on her (not expand her, she would probably give me sh#t for saying that). Hmmm...

I think this came out well. I don't really know why I feel compelled to point out whether I like how a drawing came out or not every time in these descriptions. Death of the Author and all that, to be sure, but also, I'm not sure anybody cares, nor do I want to color anyone's opinion or insult them if they like something I've done that I don't really. More, I'm just trying to think of intelligent stuff to say about these pictures. Which is harder than it can seem! Oh well, I think I'll continue, if for no other reason than to fill this space!

Stoic

Stoic

I was having a really bad day, that day, just trying to get through it.

Which might be one reason this is kind of a crappy drawing. Just didn't come out well. But you can't win 'em all, and as always it can be quite cathartic to draw when you're feeling down.

In some ways, I'm not sure I was down *enough* when I drew this, which though a crazy way of thinking, means I had the worst of feeling bad but not awful enough to wring out a ton of emotion. I don't know, ::knock on wood::, just let it be known that that type of inspiration is not what I'm looking for!
