A request/gift for my friend Dawn. I've never drawn a dolphin before, but I think it came out pretty well. Dolphins are funny looking when you look at them closely... but then again, I tend to say that about almost every animal I draw for the first time ;)
I know, dolphins don't have eyelashes or, for that matter, tail rings. But this one does. So deal with it! ::laughs:: I will say, this was fun to do!
Sorry for going missing for so long! Sometimes I let scanning and editing my images for the site get way behind. But yesterday, I met someone, and was very inspired to get my act in order! These are all from months ago, but they might be new to you, depending on if you've seen my actual sketchbook or not. So enjoy!
Working on new characters. Poor girl, she doesn't even have a name yet! But she does have a pretty dress...
This came out quite well, I think. And today I learned this version of Drupal can't support the # sign in file names. Lovely. Well, actually, I guess that does make sense, when you think about it, what with HTML and all. But sanity checking the inputs, anyone? Protect me from myself, damnit!
Another picture that's not my favourite, although it's better than the previous one. I was going through a difficult drawing period; kind of like writer's block.
There is a famous adage that goes, "Only the pure of heart can make great soup." I kind of feel the same way about drawing; if my mind can't focus on the work, if I get antsy, impatient, overly distracted, or my mind is just in a different mood, the whole thing just doesn't really work.
That said, this didn't come out terribly or anything, just not my favourite. I liked the idea of this one, however.
Ooooh boy. I think I'm gonna need a new category for this one... "least favourites?" Something like that. But I do like to share the images that don't come out all that well as well as those that do so... here we are!
I guess that's not entirely fair. I actually had given up on this drawing very early on for being unsalvagable (it was still in blue lines at that point). The angle seemed wrong... everything seemed wrong. But with some encouragement I came back to it and finished it off. It's funny, it's the eyes more than anything else that came out wrong. Still, practice, live, and learn.
Sloane, on a laptop.
I have to say, at first I didn't like this drawing; felt weak technically and also a tad out of character for Sloane. But the more I look at it, the more I like it. Certainly it's in character, if a moment out of nowhere. Could've used less rushing towards the end. ::slaps hand:: Bad fox! Take your time drawing! Sharpen your pencils!
